Aloha,
Crystal & Rosebud picked us up from the airport. They took us out to Old Wives Tale which is a little vegetarian/organic restaurant. FANTASTIC FOOD!! Afterwards we went to Powell Books and then to the Portland Saturday Market. Had a wonderful time with sis, Crystal.

DaBoyZ05 > The Japanese American Historical Plaza is a simple monument to the Nikkei-jin (people of Japanese heritage) who were sent to internment camps during World War Two.
DaBoyZ05 > This commemoration was a combined effort of the Oregon Nikkei Endowment, Portland Parks and Recreation, the Metropolitan Arts Commission, the Portland Development Commission, and the Portland-Sapporo Sister City Association.
DaBoyZ05 > The Japanese American Historical Plaza serves as a reminder of a wrong that was done to American citizens by their own government.
DaBoyZ05 > The only safeguard against it happening again -- to anyone -- is to remember.
DaBoyZ05 > On August 3, 1990, the Japanese American Historical Plaza was dedicated to the memory of those who were deported to inland internment camps during World War II.
DaBoyZ05 > In the memorial garden, artwork tells the story of the Japanese people in the Northwest - of immigration, elderly immigrants, native-born Japanese Americans, soldiers who fought in US military services during the war, and the business people who worked hard and had hope for the children of the future.
